Thanx for that Rebecca! I go thru 500gm of Yerba in less than 2 weeks, so it might be wiser to buy that 10 unit pack for $60. Only thing is I've never tried that type and brand of Yerba, but it looks very similar to Cruz de Malta. Plus it's orgamic!

      peace!

yerba is naturally a shade grown plant- it's under a cannopy in the rainforest- which makes it grow at a slower rate, which is ver important in order for it to gain it's all possible potency and goodness- yerba grown in the sun grows faster and therefor it doesn't quite reach it's potential.
i have to say i stick to guayaki for exactly that reason. they give back to the tribes there and it's grown traditionally.

I have a picture of their plantation and it is surrounded by forest, but the mate trees themselves are in direct sunlight.

i have a few glass bombillas, i was stoaked about them until i got them, the holes are too big on the bottom, filter poorly. the bamboo ones are great for a while, then they split.

ecoteas rocks all around up and down and the buzzzz is the besssst!

Regarding the question of whether EcoTeas is shade grown . . . Hey friends, this is Joe here. I'm one of the "three best friends in southern Oregon" who owns and runs EcoTeas. If you want to find out about what we're up to with reforestation, go to www.ecoteas.com. It's an exciting year for us. We're helping our family farm partners plant thousands of native trees on their farm in Argentina.

      Friends,

I've tried this brand, in large part because I appreciate how they do business. It's definitely the best tasting Mate I've had, but I can't say that it seemed very potent. Even when I prepared a brew with two of the teabags the drink seemed only moderately potent, though still pleasant tasting.

Has anyone else found this to be true?

I'm used to drinking Triunfo Organic primarily, to compare.

Hi Veg: This is Joe from EcoTeas. It's really hard to get a strong cup of mate out of a tea bag. We're working on it, though!

In the meantime, I highly recommend going with loose yerba. It is much more economical and versatile. It also uses a fraction of the packaging.

Thanks Joe! i appreciate it. I'll definitely try the bulk, which is what I prefer anyway for many reasons, including less packing being involved.

Your Mate is the best tasting I've tried yet, so I'll definitely give the bulk a go. Thanks for taking the time to reply. I appreciate it.

I find this to be a very good quality Mate. I have used it for almost a year now. I highly recommend it.

    Hi there!

Love to find a place of Yerba Mate fans!!!
I´m argentine and as you probably know it´s our national drink.
I would suggest you try organic yerba mate, it tastes better and you will be helping small farmers as well
    an the environment.

Here´s an interesting slide show on how we brew it in South America :

I hope this will be of interest!

    Warm Regards from Argentina!

    Alejandro.
