I love mate', its true, but Iam not sure if my side affect is common. I like it strong, but I cant go past 2 cups before iam shitting through a straw. Anyone else get this...?

Tue, May 31, 2005 - 12:26 AMThe problem isn't that you are drinking to much mate, the problem is that you don't drink enogh. What mate does, is to clean your body, thats why the shiting part ocurred, then if you don't stop drinking, you body gets clean and the diarhea stops and you will feel more relax and stable. Just make sure you don't stop drinking it! Let your body get clean.

Fri, July 14, 2006 - 1:57 PMcome on now. We all know that mate loosens the stools. I'm not sure if the brand of mate or anything else has to do with getting the runs. After a stiff 'gourd' or two, I'd be certain everyone of us would mount 'the' porcelain. Sometimes I get the runs. Other times not...but it always presents itself as an emergency!!!
If you're getting the runs like you're really getting the runs, theres probably diet issues, which when coupled with stiff caffeine intake purges the bowles in a no no sort of way.

Heat the water to 92 degrees celsius, cold mate will give you more diarhea and mate with boiled wter is not worth drinking.

Mon, October 2, 2006 - 1:18 PMI Googled Yerba Mate and Diarreha and found your postings. I've got 2 different kinds of Mate:
1. Rei Verde (it's from Brazil...super strong and GIVES ME DIARREHA!!!)
2. Mendo Mate. THis stuff is amazing. Just enough punch and not too harsh on the body.
I have a sensitive stomach to begin with...and have come to the conclusion that really strong Yerba Mate screws with my system. Good to know i'm not alone, though. ;-)

Sat, November 18, 2006 - 4:55 PMMate cold is used as a laxative in argentina so it could be that it's not hot enough, likewise terrere hot has the same affect. I would try a different brand and looking into to what kind of yerba you actually have. -

and if so, the mate' is less ritch in vitamins and minerals
all dried up n' stuff, and more dense with caffine... if that makes sense
but i'm sure by now the hypothesis has been reached and conclusion in near.
