So I have not been there yet to check this out, but I figured i'd post it for anyone in the Boston area.
I was just informed that there is a cafe that carries toscanini ice cream right next to the somerville theatre in Davis sq. and they carry yerba mate ice cream.
I'm not sure when i'll have a chance to go check it out, so if anyone goes, has gone, or has tried it anywhere else, please let me know what you think!

Anyone heard of this treat anywhere else? I think the ice cream brand might be toscanni, or something like that. I know there's a place in Central square that is called that.. i might go check out if they're related..

El Jauja in Bolsón and Bariloche (Patagonia) has "matte con 2 de azucar" ice cream. Pretty far from Boston though...
